ForFarmers has branches for its core activities in the Netherlands and Germany and operates under the names ForFarmers and Bela-Thesing. Total annual sales amount to more than 2.4 million tons of compound feed. ForFarmers’ core activities are the production and sales of feed (primarily compound feed) and trading in agricultural commodities (fertilizers, crop protection agents, seed and planting material). As well as these products, ForFarmers also offers a broad range of services to cattle farmers, arable farmers and contract workers. ForFarmers has a total of 650 employees.
ForFarmers’ market is concentrated in the east, north and south of the Netherlands, the north west of Germany and the north of Belgium.
The sales organisation at ForFarmers is geared to serve the regions its products are marketed in. The cattle, pigs, poultry and arable farming and contracting sectors have specialised advisors, who report to the sales managers. The field staff at ForFarmers Bela are all-rounders with their own sales areas.
In the Netherlands the production sites specialise in a particular category of animals. The Deventer and Almelo sites produce cattle feed, while the pig and poultry feed is produced in Lochem and Delden. Organic feed is produced in Harreveld and partly in Almelo. The feed is transported from the production plants to ForFarmers customers in the Netherlands and abroad. The other articles are marketed from the warehouses in Lochem, Almelo and Vroomshoop.
The production sites in Langförden, Hamburg and Rees produce cattle feed, pig feed and poultry feed. The production plant in Rapshagen produces poultry feed. The production plant in Calveslage produces semi-finished products for pet food.
Orders are placed with the customer service department in Lochem and with the branches in Germany. Increasing numbers of orders are place by fax and internet. ForFarmers offers its customers a ForFarmers PORTAL on www.forfarmers.eu. As well as placing orders, users can also request information.
ForFarmers is also engaged in company development and production rights relating to its core business of feed and trading in commodities. ForFarmers has various holdings in other companies where it has no majority control.
The most important one is Cefetra, an international trading organisation that supplies raw materials for cattle feed.
ForFarmers is also a member of various cooperatives and is one of the largest members of Coöperatie Koninklijke Cebeco Groep U.A.
